Fiber Arts Projects
Three main projects will encompass numerous art forms to create three completed pieces for exhibit at Festival 2005.

Weaving
Participants will build their own ceramic weaving loom and create a personally expressive woven hanging.

Batik
Participants will choose from an array of objects such as napkin, pillowcase, fabric piece, etc. to create their own design to batik.  Finished pieces may include a scarf, pillow cover, or whatever the participant imagines!

Mask Making
Participants will utilize leather and other materials to create an original mask.  It may be a large wall-hanging or a small accent piece.

Old clothing is suggested for all classes.  Some materials will need to be collected from home, depending on the student's desire.

Participants will create an exhibition setting for their pieces during one of the classes. Some prep work may need to be completed at home between classes.

To All Participants:

All classes are casual enough for summertime fun, yet structured enough to produce an excellent performance.  Participants are expected to be on time and prepared to begin at the class start time.

All participants are expected to show respect to instructors, fellow participants, and the Friends volunteers, attend and participate in all classes.  Stellar behavior is expected of everyone
.  Parents will be notified and asked to pick up a child in cases of misbehavior.

All participants are expected to help publicize the festival and to encourage family and friends to attend the free event.

To All Parents:

We know this program is a commitment for the family as well as the participant.  Car pooling with other participant families can be helpful with transportation.  Parental help is needed for the recognition party and festival activities. We are all volunteers and many hands make light work. Please give a hand when and where you are able.
