WILLIAM MECKLEY is a professor at Schenectady County Community College where he chairs the music department. He is the Director of Jazz Ensemble and the Music Director of the Empire Jazz Orchestra. He studied trombone with Reginald Fink and George Osborn. Dr. Meckley received his Ph.D., from the Eastman School of Music; M.M., Ohio University; and B.A., Fairmont State College. His professional performances include Aretha Franklin, Yes, The Manhattan Transfer, Burt Bacharach, Roger Daltrey and John Entwhistle, Rosemary Clooney, Johnny Mathis, Nick Brignola, St. Cecilia Chamber Orchestra, Albany Pro Musica, Albany, Schenectady, Catskill, Utica Symphonies, Alex Torres and The Latin Kings Orchestra, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Doug Sertl Big Band, George Burns, Carol Channing, Mitzi Gaynor, Andy Williams, Schenectady Brass Quintet, Albany Symphony Brass Quintet, Mosiev Dance Company of the USSR. In addition, he has performed with numerous national Broadway and other tours (Proctors Theatre). Professional tour performances in Europe, Canada, Jordan. Recordings with the Empire Jazz Orchestra, Albany Symphony, Alex Torres and the Latin Kings Orchestra. Performance faculty, Skidmore College, SUNY Albany. SCCC Foundation and State University of New York Chancellors' Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Albany/Schenectady League of the Arts Award, 1997. State University Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities, 2005.
